A driver died when his car crashed off a highway and rolled over Friday in Lowell, Vermont, police said.

Jason Metras, a 47-year-old from Troy, was thrown from the car, which ended up in a field off Route 100 after the crash at 10:13 a.m., Vermont State Police said.

Metras was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was just south of Westfield, according to police.

No other vehicles were involved, according to police, who asked any witnesses to call investigators at 802-334-8881 to share information.
