ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The City of Asheville is trying to “clear the air” after recent questions about the future of the River Arts District.
Officials have been weighing options for the RAD, which suffered devastating damage from Hurricane Helene.
Experts with the Urban Land Institute toured the city’s hardest-hit areas and offered recommendations for recovery - one of which included the idea of relocating the RAD.
The city, however, said they have not made any decision to relocate the RAD, and decisions about its future rest with private property owners and the North Carolina Department of Transportation, which own most of the parcels in the damaged area.
City staff are reviewing the recommendations from ULI but said the panel plans to deliver a final report in late fall.
