It was a flurry of activity as Gannon and Mercyhurst Universities welcomed students back to campus.

The move-in day marks the start of the academic year, bringing a surge of energy to Gannon University as volunteers in bright yellow shirts assist freshmen settling into their new homes.

"We have about 1,200 students moving in between today and tomorrow, so there's a lot of energy all around us," said Walter Iwanenko, President of Gannon University.

Incoming freshman Charlie Brancato described the process as "seamless," noting the abundance of help and great people involved.

Lincoln Kier, another incoming freshman, appreciated the modern conveniences, saying, "For instance, the laundry, there's even an app to tell you when it's done. It's just fast-paced and high-tech nowadays and I love
