RIO VISTA, Calif. —

A driver is dead after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into another car on Highway 12 in Solano County on Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded to the crash just after 5 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 113.

Officials said a Toyota was traveling westbound on Highway 12 when the 53-year-old driver lost control and entered the eastbound lanes. He was perpendicular to the road when a Nissan crashed into him.

CHP said the driver of the Toyota died at the scene. The driver of the Nissan and three passengers were taken to an area hospital for their injuries. Their condition is unknown.

All involved were wearing their seat belts, CHP said.
