LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Once upon a time, there was a storytelling festival in Oldham County - one that is now celebrating its 50th anniversary!
The Corn Island Storytelling Festival returned Saturday to Third Turn Oldham Gardens in Crestwood. Guests could enjoy the open-air setting, old greenhouses, and a botanical vibe.
The festival is built on stories, connection, and a sense of place. Topics included America 250, early Kentucky history, and the night ends with ghost stories.
"Stories are a primary way that people pass on the way we act and the way we should behave," Nancy Theiss, who is with the Oldham County History Center, said. "We learn from our elders and it's just a natural form of learning about human history."
The Oldham County History Center helped organize the event.
