STEELE, Mo. (KFVS) - A man wanted on a felony warrant is in custody, thanks to a tip from a bystander.

Police Chief of Steele, Missouri, Billy Joe Stanfield said on August 16, he received a report from a bystander about a wanted man spotted walking on S. Locust Street.

The man, identified as Jeremy Allen Webb of Steele, had an active warrant for his arrest, charging him with felony tampering with a motor vehicle with a $10,000 cash-only bond.

Chief Stanfield said he tried to make contact with Webb, but he ran to the Steele Ditch and into the brush.

The Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Caruthersville Police Department were called in to help Stanfield locate Webb.

After a lengthy search, law enforcement found Webb, and he was taken into custody.
