The city of Red Bank is developing a new multiuse trail system with a Project Diabetes grant of up to $402,300 from the Tennessee Department of Health.
Red Bank city commissioners unanimously approved the grant, which requires no matching funds from the city. The Godsey Ridge trail system will include multiuse trails, parking lots and connectivity projects developed over three years.
Project Diabetes aims to prevent chronic disease by funding policy, systems and environmental changes in Tennessee communities, according to the state Department of Health website. For this funding cycle, the grant program prioritized projects focused on making physical activity or choosing healthy foods a routine part of life.
