SEATTLE — A 35-year-old man remains in critical condition after being shot multiple times in the torso and neck Saturday night at Golden Gardens Park.

A 22-year-old suspect allegedly opened fire on the victim. Police released the suspect on Sunday "pending further information," according to the Seattle Police Department.

Seattle police say the shooting occurred around 8 p.m. following a verbal altercation. A trauma doctor nearby stepped in to provide emergency aid before the victim was rushed to Harborview Medical Center.

One witness, who asked to remain anonymous, said she was less than 100 feet away when the shooting happened. She described seeing a group of people who appeared to be celebrating at the beach.
