MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Authorities said an elderly man was seriously hurt after a fire broke out at his Montgomery County home on Monday morning.

David Pazos, spokesman with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS), said crews were dispatched at about 11:10 a.m. on Aug. 18, to the 4800 block of Broad Brook Drive in Bethesda for a house fire.

There, Pazos said, flames were showing from the living room and garage, with neighbors reporting there was still a person inside.

Firefighters were able to find and rescue an elderly man, who was in serious condition.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

As of 11:47 a.m., the fire was under control.

The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
