SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Three water providers in Washington County have imposed a full outdoor water ban due to dry conditions and "heavy consumer demand."
Veolia Rhode Island and the towns of South Kingstown and Narragansett announced the ban went into effect on Saturday, Aug. 16.
The ban does not affect Kingston Water District customers.
The towns and Veolia are urging residents to conserve water by avoiding unnecessary outdoor use, such as watering lawns and gardens.
"This watering restriction is being enacted to ensure sufficient supply to meet customer needs," the town of South Kingstown said on its website.
