GRANDVILLE, MI — Classrooms awoke from their summer slumber on Monday.

After several months of stillness, students flooded from buses and loved ones’ vehicles in the drop-off lane. Principal Adam Lancto welcomed the return of buzzing hallways.

“Everyone is fired up,” Lancto said “I’m sure there’s a lot of nerves, but it’s an exciting day — smiles on everyone’s faces."

Grandville held a half-day. The soft launch, Lancto said, provides students an opportunity to learn schedules, get to know teachers, and find classrooms.

Lancto, who is in his 17th year at Grandville High School, noticed a “healthy dose of excitement” for both students and teachers.
