As of 11 a.m. Monday, Erin's maximum sustained winds had jumped to 140 mph (Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale) after dipping to 125 mph (Category 3) for a time on Sunday. On Saturday, it reached Category 5 status with 160-mph winds. At 2 p.m. Monday, sustained winds were holding at 140 mph.
