A Louisiana man is facing several charges after he allegedly took control of an unoccupied crane and caused several accidents on a local interstate.

Louisiana State Police, who shared details about the incident over the weekend, said troopers responded to reports of "vehicles striking a construction crane in a work zone" on Interstate 10 around 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 16.

According to the agency, 37-year-old Matthew Vincent drove his Ram pickup truck through a field where it reportedly got stuck. He ditched the vehicle, crossed Interstate 10 and climbed into a crane that was in a work zone.

"Once inside, he manipulated the crane boom over the westbound lanes of I-10, obstructing traffic and causing the crashes," state police wrote in a
