The Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office Dive Team trains often for the unexpected. 9&10’s Megan Huiskens and Josh Monroe were able to capture a training in action.

The GTSO Dive Team uses modern technology called the ROV or Remotely Operated Vehicle to help track the remains of a missing person in water. The Dive Team prepares for all types of water conditions, because it can change on any given day.

“Wear a life jacket always because even if you’re in a boat, you think things are going well and you’re not wearing a life jacket and that boat hits something, or suddenly it flips, you’re in trouble,” said Nate Alger. “You don’t often have time to get back to a life jacket.
