SUNSET PARK — REP. DAN GOLDMAN said officers at the infamous Metropolitan Detention Center denied him entry for the second time to inspect conditions for roughly 100 immigrants held there. The incident occurred a week after Goldman, along with Reps. Adriano Espaillat and Nydia Velázquez, were turned away, according to abc7 New York. Goldman noted that federal law grants members of Congress authority to inspect DHS detention sites without prior notice; he said BOP officials had promised access with advance notice, which he provided, but he was still blocked.
