West Nile virus has infected a person from Oakland County, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services said Aug. 18.

This is the fourth confirmed human case of West Nile virus in Michigan in 2025. Others were identified in Macomb, Livingston and Sanilac counties.

West Nile virus has infected people from Oakland and Emmet Counties, the local health departments reported Monday, Aug. 18, bringing the number of confirmed human cases of the mosquito-borne virus to five in Michigan so far this year.

As of Aug. 15, other human cases in Michigan had been identified in Macomb, Livingston and Sanilac counties, according to the state's weekly Michigan Arbovirus Surveillance Report .
