SAGINAW, MI – A former corrections officer is facing potential prison time after being accused of smuggling contraband into the Saginaw County Jail, deputies said.

Jeilon Banks, who had worked at the jail since April 2025, was the subject of surveillance and an investigation conducted by Saginaw County Sheriff’s detectives and members of the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team (BAYANET), according to a Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Banks was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 14, when he was witnessed accepting a payment and receiving a controlled substance he allegedly planned to bring into the jail, deputies said. He was then held at the Genesee County Jail.

The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office officially terminated Bank’s employment on Friday, Aug. 15, deputies said.
