Bill Anderson and his legacy guitar is in recovery.

Three days after the country legend , 87, didn’t appear at his Aug. 16 performance at the Grand Ole Opry, he revealed the painful reason why he had to cancel the Nashville show .

“I appreciate your concern, but I’m here to let you know I’m doing fine,” Bill wrote in the Aug. 18 statement on his website. “It was a freak accident where I simply twisted or tore some ligaments or muscles or something in the back of my left leg trying to climb into bed, and I fell to the floor unable to walk.”

Due to his “excruciating pain,” the “Walk Out Backwards” singer decided to cancel the performance, which was set to include appearances from T. Graham Brown , Jordan Davis , Wyatt Ellis , Don Schlitz , Kylie
