Hartford Public School students will start school next Tuesday.

“She’s very happy, very excited to start school,” said Jesus Almodovar, whose daughter Myra will be starting middle school this year.

On Tuesday, he brought her to the Hartford Public Schools' back-to-school kick off event at Dunkin’ Park.

“It feels really good,” the 11-year-old said. “I got to meet my principal. It’s very open and big and I think it’s the perfect spot.”

Thousand of students and families came out to the park to pick up free school supplies which included backpacks, rulers, books and pencils that were provide by local organizations and sponsors.
