DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers right-hander Ty Madden, sidelined since spring training with a shoulder strain, has begun a “return-to-play throwing progression,” according to the latest installment of the team’s twice-weekly injury report.
While that’s a step in the right direction, it’s not an indication that Madden will pitch in 2025, said Tigers manager A.J. Hinch.
“The question with Ty, and the other guys who are essentially out for the season, is what do we have to do to get him into position to have as normal an offseason as we can,” Hinch said. “Some of that might be just getting off the mound. Some of it might be live at-bats, which will simulate a game. But getting into a minor-league game, I don’t think that’s in the cards.”
Madden, 25, was drafted by the Tigers in the first round
