SHREVEPORT, La. – The state attorney general has sued seven Caddo Commission members for Open Meetings Law violations.

In her lawsuit filed late Monday in Caddo District Court, Attorney General Liz Murrill said the defendants “knowingly and willfully deliberated and approved” a resolution honoring U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders when he visited Shreveport on June 21.

Murrill asks for an injunction and the assessment of civil penalties against the seven commissioners who signed the resolution.

It was prepared outside of a public meeting, but done so as an official act of the commission.

Named individually in the lawsuit are Stormy Gage-Watts, Victor Thomas, Roy Burrell, Ron Cothran, Kenneth Epperson Sr., Gregory Young and Steffon Jones.
