WESTLAKE, La. (KPLC) - As the I-10 Bridge Replacement Project moves forward, DOTD has announced when months-long detours will take effect in Westlake.

Starting Thursday, Aug. 28, Exit 27 (Sampson Street) on I-10 Westbound will be closed. The following detours will be in place:

Drivers will access I-10 West from Sampson Street via detour onto I-10 South. Frontage Road to the new temporary access road

Drivers will access Sampson Street via detour onto Exit 26 on I-10 West (U.S. 90 PPG Drive/Trousdale)

All vehicles with heights above 12 feet will access I-10 West via detour onto I-10 East to Exit 29 (N. Lakeshore Drive)

The closures are expected to last 18 months, DOTD said. Detour routes will be clearly marked, and drivers are encouraged to give themselves extra travel time when passing
