NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — A Cleveland police officer was arrested early Wednesday after crashing his car into a North Olmsted restaurant while allegedly driving under the influence, according to the North Olmsted Police Department.
According to a police report obtained by 3News, officers were called around 2:46 a.m. to Romeo’s Pizza, located at 28931 Lorain Road, for a report that a vehicle struck the northern side of the building.
The driver, identified as Gary Eugene Kane II, was behind the wheel of a silver Volkswagen Jetta when it crashed into the restaurant. North Olmsted Police Department officials confirmed to 3News that Kane is a Cleveland police officer.
According to the report, Kane showed signs of impairment, including the odor of alcohol and glossy eyes.
