GROTON, Conn. — The Connecticut Sun Foundation is taking a break from making baskets and has begun filling them just in time for the back-to-school season.
For young students like Alesia Delossantos-Holmes, shopping for the new school year is more than just picking out clothes.
“I just love shopping, shopping is so much fun,” she said with a smile.
For her mother, Allana Holmes, a teacher, the experience comes with financial stress.
“I do not get paid in the summer,” she said.
But this season, families like the Holmes's are getting a big assist from the Connecticut Sun Foundation.
The foundation awarded $250 shopping sprees to 80 kids. The donation also included new backpacks and school supplies, helping students not only look their best but also be prepared for success.
