BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Fire Department investigators have arrested Derrick Toran, 45, in connection with a late-night fire at Square Space Storage on 13030 S. Choctaw Drive.

BRFD says crews were called around 11:26 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, and arrived to heavy smoke coming from one of the buildings. Firefighters made entry into several units and contained the fire to a single storage unit. The blaze was determined to be arson.

According to BRFD, Toran was seen on security video walking away from the unit with smoke visible in the frame. He admitted being on the property and that he was the person in the video, but did not admit to starting the fire or knowing how it began.
