McPHERSON, Kan. (KSNW) — McPherson College will launch a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science next year after receiving approval from the Higher Learning Commission.

The program will offer two tracks, strength and conditioning or exercise physiology, and prepare students for careers in fitness, sports performance, rehabilitation, and preventative healthcare.

“There is strong demand both locally and regionally for skilled professionals in health and wellness,” Dr. Austin McCulloch, chair of the Health and Sports Studies Department, said in a statement.

The degree will build on the college’s health and sports studies programs and use renovated lab spaces in Melhorn Science Hall, upgraded with $2.1 million in federal funding secured by Sen. Jerry Moran.
