A class-action lawsuit was filed Monday in Butte-Silver Bow District Court against Montana Resources, the sprawling copper and molybdenum mine in Butte.

The complaint arises from the alleged contamination by Montana Resources of the municipal water supply serving plaintiffs Amanda Longfield and Eric Jozovich, who also filed “on behalf of all others who were similarly situated,” documents say.

The suit claims the plaintiffs were “severely inconvenienced,” incurred costs buying bottled water and suffered “anxiety, mental anguish and emotional distress” because of the alleged contamination of the municipal water supply.

Testing to date has not found evidence of contamination.
