Nearly two dozen musical acts have been lined up for the inaugural Red Deer Folk Fest on Aug. 30-31.

Folk Fest co-organizer Jesse Roads will take Capstone's Canada 150 Square stage of course, but there are many other local names many will recognize, including Ryan Carnduff, Randi Boulton, Mike Szabo and others.

Roads, who also runs Deer City Records, has teamed up with GKM Events Management owner and Filipino Food and Music Festival organizer Chris Rod have teamed up to organize the free event that run from around noon to 10 p.m. on the Saturday and Sunday of the September long weekend.
