(WKBN) -- Your child might come home from the first football game of the season a winner or hoping for better luck next time. What better way to celebrate or deal with the sorrows than with ice cream?

Totally 80s Ice Cream Shoppe is staying open until 11 p.m. on Fridays to accommodate players and their families. Normally, they close at 9 p.m.

Owner Mike Thorpe says the decision was driven by a community demand and his family's willingness to work late.

"We always say if you lost, you need the ice cream, and if you win, you're celebrating with us. So, either way, when you lose, you need some ice cream, but it makes you feel good. I mean, there's a lot of times ice cream brings people together," Thorpe said.

They will be open until 11 p.m. at both their Austintown and Salem locations.
