SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) - When Dani Johnson first opened her business, it was a consignment shop specializing in pieces created by local artists.

Friday, she cut the ribbon for a reopening of her shop, "The Wandering Soul" in downtown Sharon, claiming it's the only bookstore, new or used, in the Shenango Valley. Johnson said half the books on sale were donated.

"I had 50 books when I opened in 2022, and now I have over 2,500. New York Times best-selling authors, local authors. People deserve to be read. Stories need to be told. People need to know things," Johnson said.

Johnson said the first couple of years at the shop went well. But then in 2024, business dropped off dramatically, and she had to take on another task, applying for grants just to keep operating.
