OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The annual parish festival is underway in the heart of South Omaha. It’s happening three months after an ICE operation at Glen Valley Foods.
After the June ICE raids , many business owners talked to First Alert 6 and told us that they lost more than half of their sales income.
With the festival fully underway this weekend, business owners like Maria Francisco are hoping to see more people and economic support.
She owns ‘Abarrotes Diana’ a mini supermarket that sits along 24th street near where the event happens.
“I think it’s a chance for more people to check out my shop and other businesses along 24th street,” Francisco said. “Especially now since a lot of us saw a decline in sales with people staying home in fear of the ICE activity back in June.”
