KINGSTON — If there ever was a moral victory in week one, Wyoming Valley West will take it.
Riding a 20-game losing streak, the Spartans were an interception away from pulling within one possession of Williamsport late in their home opener. With less than five minutes remaining, the Millionaires’ Giovanni White picked off a red zone pass in the back of the end zone.
Williamsport ousted Wyoming Valley West by a 31-20 score Friday at Spartan Stadium.
“I’ll take a moral victory,” Valley West coach Bob Stelma said. “These guys hung together. They battled for the full time they were in there. A guy went down, another one went in and stepped up. The guys are tuned in and doing what they’re asked.”
