Kirkwood High coach Jeremy Maclin wants everyone to know last year’s team that reached the Class 6 semifinals was just the beginning.
The Pioneers finished 9-3 and lost 56-46 at state runner-up Nixa in the semifinals after scoring huge wins over CBC and Jackson to get to the final four.
“I think we’re hungry," said Maclin, heading into his fifth year as head coach at his alma mater. "I think these guys this year want to use last year as a motivation and not from the standpoint of doing what that team did. We want to continue the legacy and keep going in the right direction.
“We want people to know when you play Kirkwood, you’re in for a battle. We have what it takes to be a pretty good football team.”
