ROSELAND, La. (WVUE) – Tangipahoa Parish officials have issued a mandatory evacuation for residents within a one-mile radius of Highways 51 and 10 in Roseland after an explosion at Smitty’s Supply, an automotive manufacturing facility.

Parish leaders urged residents to leave the area immediately and avoid returning until officials give the all-clear.

Emergency crews shut down Highway 51 at Highway 10 as they continue to respond to the scene. No injuries have been reported, according to parish officials.

Parish President Robby Miller says officials with the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are monitoring and assessing the situation.
