FORT LAUDERDALE — With Hall of Fame wide receiver and Dillard 1990 alumnus Isaac Bruce in attendance, Dr. Phillips started the season with disappointment in a 39-0 loss to Fort Lauderdale Dillard in the Broward County National Showcase on Friday night.

Panthers senior Christopher Tillman scored on a 64-yard punt return and set up another score with a 61-yard interception return.

Dr. Phillips’ coach Rodney Wells said Tillman’s interception and return was the turning point and led to more self-inflicted wounds.

“It was one of those things where you just need a play,” Wells said. “That pick was a 14-point turnaround. We could have scored, and they ended up scoring. The pick-6 they had was kind of demoralizing.”
