SMITH COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — On Saturday morning, first responders in Smith County worked together to rescue a woman with a possibly broken leg from a hiking trail.
The call came in at about 11:15 a.m., according to the Smith County Rescue Squad. A woman had reportedly fallen on the Bearwaller Hiking Trail in Defeated Creek Campground, and she was about a quarter of a mile from the entrance to the trail at the top of the hill.
Smith County Emergency Medical Services worked with the Smith County Rescue Squad and helped put the woman into a stokes basket, which is a type of stretcher that's suitable for uneven terrain like a hiking trail, and carried her down the hill.
