An 87-year-old man from Macks Creek suffered serious injuries in a crash Friday afternoon on U.S. 54 eastbound at Route W, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened at about 12:45 p.m. when the man’s Chevrolet Silverado failed to yield to a MoDOT flag person and struck a 1998 Freightliner.

The Silverado was towed from the scene. The Freightliner, driven by a juvenile male from Dixon, Missouri, had moderate damage but was driven away.

The Macks Creek man, who was not wearing a seat belt, was first taken by Mercy Ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital, then flown by MU Air to University Hospital in Columbia.
