Kim Knor, 86, began skydiving when she was 20 years old after she overheard a group of people in a Chicago drugstore talking about finding an airplane for an upcoming jump.
After they left, Knor asked if anybody could come to the skydiving club, and went to watch the skydivers that weekend.
Since then, Knor, a Michigan native, has logged 910 total jumps in her skydiving career. She has been inducted into the International Skydiving Hall of Fame, was a member of the first U.S. Women's Parachute Team and won gold with her team at the sixth World Championships.
Now, she's embarking on a journey to reach her thousandth tandem jump this year and get her United States Parachute Association Gold Wings.
Knor spoke with The Detroit News ahead of her scheduled jumps at Midwest Freefall Skydiving
