A teenager was fatally shot Saturday evening at a park on Detroit's west side, the latest in a series of shootings involving minors this summer.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., a 16-year-old was found unresponsive from a gunshot wound to the head at Butzel playground on the 14800 block of Monte Vista Street, Detroit police said in a release.

The teen was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.

The department does not have a suspect in custody and is still investigating the incident.

The incident follows several shootings in the city last month that involved minors.
