SUNFLOWER COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) - Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) said troopers are investigating two fatal crashes.

The first crash occurred on Highway 448 in Sunflower County. Troopers said a 2020 Ram 1500 was traveling east on the highway when it collided with a 2023 Hyundai Elantra that was traveling west.

MHP officials said the driver of the Hyundai, 33-year-old Martez L. Duncan, of Southaven, received fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver and the passenger of the Ram were transported to local hospitals with injuries.

The second crash occurred near the intersection of U.S. 61 and Laughlin Road in Cleveland just after 10:00 a.m. on August 23, 2025. Troopers said a 2012 Chrysler 300 was traveling south on the highway when it collided with a pedestrian, w
