BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A referee in Sylacauga is now being called a hero after he saved one of his fellow officials lives after he collapsed on the field during a high school football game Friday night.
Lew Murphy and Joey Shellnut were officiating the Sylacauga - Central Coosa game when Shellnut suddenly collapsed on the field.
Murphy rushed into action and began performing CPR.
One man at the game, Jimmy Reynolds, says Shellnut was resuscitated not just once, but twice.
Murphy is an associate at the Walmart in Sylacauga, and the store says they are so proud of his heroism.
