KANSAS CITY, Mo. ( KCTV /Gray News) - Two lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fans named both their sons after their favorite football players: Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

Kaytee Wood and her husband, Alex, found out they were having their first son the weekend of the 2020 Super Bowl, in which the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers. Wood says her husband’s promise led to the naming of their son Patrick after quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“He made a lot of promises and said a lot of things, and we just decided to go with it,” Wood said. “Luckily, we also really loved the name.”

When the couple had their second son in 2023, the only name that made sense was Travis for Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
