Robin Davis, the owner of Maxie B’s Bakery and Dessert Café, celebrated 40 years in business this month, but her journey to running one of Greensboro’s most popular bakeries was a series of happy accidents.
Long before Davis owned a bakery, she owned a yogurt shop. At the young age of 22, she became a franchisee for I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt, just when frozen yogurt was starting to trend.
She didn’t really plan to go into the food business. Davis, who grew up in Kernersville, was a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill majoring in business with a concentration in marketing. “I come from a family of entrepreneurs,” she said.
