GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Monday marks the first day of school for many across the East, including Pitt County Schools.

As parents dropped off their students Monday morning, emotions were running high.

Parent, Latisha Little, told WITN, “Right now, I’m a little nervous because he’s going to the 6th grade, so this is his first time in middle school, so I’m a little nervous because he’s never had to change classes, but other than that, I’m excited.“

Students were met with fist bumps, smiling faces, and warm welcomes back.

“Dropping off is always a little hectic, but I’m glad that we’re able to get them to school and that they enjoy their first day, and they’re out of the house,” Little said.
