An unseasonably strong cold front is on the move, and it will bring some changes you’ll notice right away. This afternoon, storms may pop up as the front crosses Eastern North Carolina. Not every town will see rain, but the storms that do form could produce gusty winds up to 30–40 mph. Once the front clears the coast tonight, drier air rushes in, and you’ll feel a noticeable drop in humidity by Tuesday morning.
The bigger story comes midweek when high pressure settles in. This system will deliver a preview of fall with much cooler, less humid air. Highs will only reach the 70s to low 80s Wednesday and Thursday, while overnight lows dip into the 50s inland and 60s at the coast, levels that flirt with record cool temperatures for late August.
