Michigan's beaches could see 8-foot waves and life-threatening currents on Monday, Aug. 25, and officials have issued small craft and swim risk advisories for beach-goers.

" High wave action along the Lake Superior shoreline of Marquette and Alger Counties will create life-threatening waves and rip currents today through this evening (Aug. 25)," the National Weather Service in Marquette said on X. "Stay out of the water and away from dangerous areas like piers and break walls."

The highest waves are forecast for Lake Superior — up to 8 feet high across Alger and Marquette counties, with some areas expected to be particularly dangerous, including Middle Bay near Presque Isle, Little Presque Isle, McCarty's Cove, Au Train Bay, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and exposed regions around
