What was the largest missing shipwreck in the Great Lakes has been found.

The S.S. James Carruthers wrecked in Lake Huron during the catastrophic White Hurricane of 1913 , which claimed at least 250 lives and a dozen ships.

A brand-new Canadian ship, the Carruthers was a leviathan of its time at 529 feet long. It served for just six months.

On May 26, prolific shipwreck hunter David Trotter and his Undersea Research Associates discovered the ship while using underwater cameras to map a section of Lake Huron off Michigan’s thumb area, Scuba News reports .

The Carruthers rests upside down under 190 feet of the water on the U.S. side of the lake, the report said.
