A road was closed off with emergency services at the scene after a home erupted into flames in south Manchester on Monday (August 25).

Fire crews raced to the incident on Cromwell Avenue in Whalley Range at around 1.30pm following reports of a fire at the ground floor of a property.

Dramatic images from the scene showed plumes of black smoke escaping from the door and windows of the terraced house as fire crews attempted to bring the blaze under control.

The road was closed off for around an hour amid the incident, with three fire engines called out to the scene. The blaze broke out in the hallway.
