ASHEVILLE – Blair Johnston, principal of Asheville Middle School is the winner of Asheville City Schools’ 2026 Principal of the Year award, Superintendent Maggie Fehrman announced at Asheville High School’s opening convocation.

“Johnston was nominated by his peers in recognition of his exemplary leadership, deep commitment to students, and dedication to building strong school communities,” Asheville City Schools said in an Aug. 21 news release announcing the decision.
