WASHINGTON — is changing its policy for plus-size passengers who need an extra seat on flights.
The Texas-based airline had a longstanding policy of encouraging "customers of size" to book two seats when purchasing their flights and refunding them for the additional seat after they travel. While the refund policy is still in play, the new changes will restrict the conditions in which the refunds can be provided.
“To ensure space, we are communicating to Customers who have previously used the extra seat policy that they should purchase it at booking,” the company said in a statement Monday
Like many of the new changes, such as assigned seating, the policy will go into effect for all flights on Jan. 27, 2026.
